Sambucus nigra (Elder) “Black Beauty”

Elder “Black Beauty” pollarded. Although this approach to pruning Elder will mean no flowers for the coming season it will produce a better display of dark foliage.

If you are wanting a crop of flowers & berries, just take a third of the older wood out, leaving a balance of healthy, productive flowering wood.
